Frequently Asked Questions

Clinical Overview: Rafinlar 75mg Capsule

Rafinlar 75mg Capsule contains Dabrafenib, a targeted kinase inhibitor medication. It is specifically designed to treat certain types of cancers that carry an abnormal 'BRAF' gene mutation, helping to block the signals that drive cancer cell proliferation.

How It Works (Mechanism of Action)

Rafinlar works by targeting and inhibiting mutated forms of the BRAF kinase enzyme. In tumors with a BRAF V600 mutation, this enzyme over-signals and causes cancer cells to multiply rapidly. By blocking this specific pathway, Rafinlar helps slow down or stop the growth of the tumor.

Therapeutic & Treatment Context

Oncologists prescribe Rafinlar for patients with unresectable or metastatic melanoma, BRAF-mutated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and certain cases of advanced thyroid cancer that harbor the specific V600 mutation.

Important Clinical Information & Precautions

Rafinlar is a prescription-only specialty cancer medication and should be initiated and monitored by a qualified medical oncologist. It is frequently prescribed in combination with another targeted therapy (such as Trametinib) depending on the specific cancer type. Regular skin checks are recommended during treatment due to the risk of new skin lesions.

Storage & Safe Handling Instructions

Store in the original container at room temperature below 30°C (86°F). Protect from moisture and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and pets. This medication does not require 2°C–8°C cold-chain refrigeration.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

The capsules should be swallowed whole with water, ideally taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, maintaining a consistent schedule approximately 12 hours apart. Do not chew, crush, or open the capsules.
