About this medicine

Calquence 100mg Capsule (Acalabrutinib (100mg))is a prescription oncology medicine. Below is educational product information — follow your doctor's advice for dose and use.

Calquence 100mg Capsule contains acalabrutinib, a highly selective, second-generation Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor. It is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with B-cell hematologic malignancies, including mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) who have received at least one prior therapy, as well as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) in both treatment-naïve and relapsed/refractory settings. By binding covalently to BTK, acalabrutinib inhibits downstream cellular activation, proliferation, and survival pathways in B lymphocytes. Prior to initiating therapy, perform a thorough clinical evaluation. Inform your oncologist of any upcoming surgical or dental procedures, pre-existing bleeding disorders, baseline cardiac arrhythmias (such as atrial fibrillation or flutter), or active infections. This medicine increases the risk of serious hemorrhage; concomitant administration with antithrombotic agents (antiplatelets or anticoagulants) requires careful risk-benefit assessment and close clinical monitoring. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established. Highly effective non-hormonal contraception must be maintained during treatment, and breastfeeding is not recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Nausea and fatigue or tiredness are some of the common side effects of Calquence 100mg Capsule. Eat smaller, more frequent meals to reduce the feeling of nausea. Avoid salty, spicy, fried, or fatty food items. Take plenty of rest and do light exercise daily to keep yourself active and reduce fatigue.

Food items with soluble fiber can help relieve diarrhea as they help absorb excess fluid from the body. These food items include bananas (ripe), oranges, boiled potatoes, white rice, curd, and oatmeal. Diarrhea can cause dehydration in the body, so drink 8-10 glasses of water to avoid dehydration. You can also have soup and juice frequently to hydrate yourself.

You can continue with your normal diet unless your doctor tells you otherwise. However, it is advisable to sip water regularly to prevent dehydration, eat small, simple but nourishing snacks every few hours rather than large meals, and suck on hard candy or popsicles to prevent nausea and vomiting.

Use a moisturizer to get relief from rashes and dry and itchy skin. Avoid direct sunlight, wear protective clothing, and use sunscreen (SPF of more than 15) whenever you step outdoors. Do not go swimming if you have a rash because the chlorine in the water can make it worse. Avoid hot water baths and wear loose and cotton fabric clothes. Your skin will tend to become better once treatment is stopped.

You may experience bleeding from gums due to a drop in the number of platelets (blood cells) in your blood. These blood cells help the blood clot when we bruise ourselves.

Various things can help you to reduce tiredness and cope with it, for example, gentle exercise. However, always consult your doctor before doing any kind of exercise. Q. Can Calquence 100mg Capsule be taken with obinutuzumab?

Your doctor will prescribe blood tests to check your levels of blood cells and how well your liver and kidneys are working.

Patients with a history of bleeding disorders or those taking concurrent antithrombotic therapy (such as blood thinners or antiplatelet agents) face an increased risk of severe hemorrhage while taking Calquence 100mg Capsule. Before initiating treatment, your oncologist will perform a comprehensive coagulation risk assessment and may establish enhanced clinical monitoring or withhold therapy if severe active bleeding occurs

Calquence 100mg Capsule can induce cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and ventricular dysfunction. Patients with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions, hypertension, or a history of arrhythmias require baseline cardiac evaluation and routine monitoring during therapy. Promptly report symptoms such as palpitations, chest discomfort, lightheadedness, or shortness of breath

Calquence 100mg Capsule frequently causes hematologic toxicity, leading to myelosuppression manifested as grade 3/4 neutropenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia. These reductions in blood cell populations increase the risks of severe infections, fatigue, and spontaneous bleeding. Your healthcare provider will conduct regular Complete Blood Count (CBC) tests to monitor blood levels and adjust or temporarily hold dosage as needed.

Calquence 100mg Capsule can be safely administered to patients with diabetes, but it requires diligent blood glucose monitoring. Targeted therapies can occasionally alter metabolic profiles or interact with concurrent corticosteroid regimens, potentially causing hyperglycemia. Consult your care team to determine if adjustments to anti-diabetic medications or insulin dosages are necessary during treatment.
